It's been 4 month since I bleached my hair, so now it was time for a touch up.
Here's how my hair looked before:
I know it looks..... disgusting but y'know hair growth for ya ;/
Around 2 inches?
TBH with bleached hair you can sort of estimate how much your hair grows within a month, which mine grows like half an inch per month.
Okay moving on, time to prepare for the touch up. A list of what I used:
- Coconut oil (simply let it melt from boiling water until it turns liquid, then massage into your hair and scalps, wrap with a towel or cover with a shower cap and leave in for over an hour - this helps protect the hair more).
- Vaseline (cover your ears, foreheard and around the neck to help protect this from the bleach).
- Dispoable gloves.
- Tinting bowl & Tinting Brush
- Jerome Russell Bblonde High Lift Powder Bleach (25g for each touch up).
- Salon Services Creme Peroxide 9% [30 vol] (75ml for each touch up).
I noticed when I was searching online for hair advice, there wasn't much showing on google.... like most of the accurate ones were hidden, and I end up finding them through another blog which comes form another blog xD
Anyways where am I getting at? I never knew how much my hair would lift, and what I did was pretty erm... unsafe and I'd just go for it, until I found Killer Strands Hair Clinic, she gives realy good advice on all hair related problems since she's a professional. you can easily email her your problems and she'll give you the best results as possible.
So yeah, thanks to this blog, I managed to find a chart which shows how much my hair would lift:
Since my hair was dark, I knew I needed to lift my hair more than once. So with the 30 vol, it would lift at 3-4 levels. (Basically if done twice with the 30 vol: Black > Orange > Yellow).
More information go here.
Jerome also has a chart on their box too....
It says here the min time is 60 mins and to use 40 vol. LOL like cheee man they didn't even show the real results of the hair lift, obviously they hae use toner afterwards. and the black they didn't want to show the orange results smh. Ok, back to what I was saying:
DO NOT GO ABOVE 60 MINS.
NEVER USE A 40 VOL OR ABOVE.
Doing these will only damage your hair! Trust me, all you need for dark hair is a 30 vol and 60 mins max to get a good lift, and to touch up more than twice to get rid of orange.
Right okay time to show my results, fyi, I had to do this myself, which was hard because my hair did end up patchy >_< :
Before:
After (30 vol + 60 mins) :
Black > Orange.
Next:
Second Bleach Session (30 vol + 60 mins) :
Orange > Orange/Gold, Yellow/ Pale Yellow.
I noticed at the back of my hair there's a yellow patch near the roots because I missed it at the first session. It didn't effect me much because my hair was long so it was covered.
THEN:
Dad told me he was going hair cut and I went along because my hair needed a trim to get rid of spilt ends:
After haircut and using Fudge's purple shampoo:
So yeah, you could see the parts I couldn't get T_T
and yes, I did get a shaved side, it was another yolo moment after the stylist didn't style my hair the way I liked it. Was regretting it for a moment but after looking at these girls from pinterest, I feel a little bit more reassured and though might as well rock it once until it grows out.
Next, I went to purchase Nice & Easy 9A Natural Light Ash Blonde.
I realized this colour was much different than the one I used before. Before, the mixture would turn into a purply/gray colour to tone.
But this one, turned into a purply brown.
Here are the results:
It toned most of my hair nicely to even out with the yellow patches (note: Now i know this doesn't work on yellow, needed to lighten my hair more if I wanted an even tone).
I realized the one I purchased before was a 10A, this new one I bought was a 9A.
Not my fault they used the same lady =_=

So yeah, a reminder that i need to purchase 10A =_=
P.S, just to let everyone know that their conditoners are pretty terrible. After use and drying my hair began to crinkle at the ends! Had to rewash and use my hair mask instead.
And for after care, I use:
- Johnson's baby shampoo (gentle on scalp and makes my hair soft).
- Tresemme Keratin Smooth Deep Treatmant Masque (Hands down, this is best masque I used, literally repairs my hair making it feel stronger).
- Wide tooth comb
- Denman Brush
- Aussie Miracle Recharge Moisture Infuser Leave in conditioner
- Inecto Pure Coconut Hair Serum
- Fudge's Purple Shampoo (strong, but only tone pale yellow hair).
- Superdrug Cool Ash Toner (Slightly weaker, but ideal if you want to keep it golden).
But that's all folks on how I retouched my hair and care for it! I know next time to lift my hair 3 times if i want an even tone (30vol > 30vol > 20 vol).
Also been informed to not used box dyes, so next time, i'll try and use a proper toner with a 20vol developer to see how it turns out!
Until next time, happy bleaching everyone!
